Referencing Workpapers from a Journal Entry

You can add a workpaper reference link to a journal entry so that you can document the source information and quickly access the workpaper as you work. Workpaper reference links are visible on the detail view for a journal entry and when you are adding or editing a journal entry. They are not visible in the summary view. Clicking a workpaper reference will either open the workpaper in the Workpaper Monitor application (in the case of Microsoft® Word and Microsoft® Excel® files) or download the files to your computer (for other file types).

The workpaper that you want to reference must be uploaded to the Engagement View before you can add a reference link to it. Only one workpaper can be linked per journal entry.

Notes

  • When you roll forward an engagement and select to include journal entries and workpapers in the roll forward, the workpaper references will be included in the new engagement. Similarly, if your create a new engagement by copying an existing one, the workpaper references are retained.

  • Workpaper reference links are not available for consolidated engagements at this time.
