Inserting Name Functions in a Workpaper

You can use name functions in a workpaper to insert information about the client, firm, engagement, and workpaper. Name functions are added using the CCH iFirm Engagement ribbon. The information that is inserted with a name function comes from the client, firm, engagement, or workpaper properties.

Note: Name functions are not yet available for consolidated engagements.

  • Client ID

There are several reasons for using name functions in a workpaper. The simplest is so that you do not have to retype the same name information in every workpaper in your engagement or manually change it if anything changes in the properties.

To insert a name function, click the CCH iFirm Engagement ribbon, and then click Name Functions.

  1. Open the Excel® or Word workpaper you want to use.
    1. Click the engagement on the Engagement List page.

Note: See Using the Engagement List Page for information about using the pagination and search features to find an engagement in the list.

    2. Locate the workpaper on the Engagement View page.

Tip: You might need to expand the node or folder that holds the item you need.

  2. Place the cursor where you want to insert the name function.
  3. Click Name Functions on the CCH iFirm Engagement ribbon, and then select the name function you want to insert.
  4. Important: If you have CCH iFirm Engagement installed on your computer, you may also see an Engagement ribbon. Be sure to click the button on the CCH iFirm Engagement ribbon.
