Learn about Task Management

Task Management helps you plan, assign and track the work required to complete a job from start to finish.

Use Task Management to break jobs into clearly defined steps, identify responsibility for each step and monitor progress at a glance.

What is Task Management?

A task represents a piece of work that needs to be completed as part of a job. For example, preparing documents, reviewing information and completing a filing step are all tasks.

Tasks are grouped into milestones, which represent major phases of a job such as preparation, review or finalization. Together, milestones and tasks form a job flow, which defines how work moves from start to completion.

Task Management allows you to plan, assign and track work on jobs using job flow templates, milestones, tasks, due dates, owners and statuses directly within your job.

How does Task Management work?

You can choose which jobs follow a task-based workflow. Select the appropriate job flow template when creating a job or configure it for recurring jobs.

Note:
  • If you choose not to use a task-based workflow, you can select None when creating a job, unless a job flow template is required.

  • To require a job flow template for a job, go to Settings > Jobs & Billing > Job Types and select Require Job Flow Template.

  • To use a blank template, select Blank when creating a job. The Blank option allows you to create tasks as needed and is the default job flow option.

  • Multiple tasks can be worked on at the same time.

  • The job status can be updated automatically based on task progress (optional).
