CCH iFirm Tax T2 2020.40.30

Schedule 384, Manitoba Paid Work Experience Tax Credit

Parts 1 and 2

In Part 1, column E1 allows you to indicate the amount claimed for the youth in respect of the incentive for a previous period of employment to determine the maximum amount per qualifying period of employment of a qualifying youth in column D1.

In Part 2, column E2 allows you to indicate the amount in respect of the incentive measure calculated for a previous taxation year to determine the maximum amount for each placement in column D2.

When rolling forward the client file, the amounts entered in columns E1 and/or E2 and the name of the employee entered in columns A1 and/or A2 will be rolled forward.

The program assumes that the employee has only one employer. Therefore, if the employee has more than one employer, you must calculate the maximum amount manually and enter this amount in column D1 and/or D2, as applicable, using an override.

Parts 3 to 7

The column Number of days in the qualifying period of employment in Parts 3 to 7 is used to indicate the number of days in the qualifying period of employment to determine the maximum amount per employee for each credit in Parts 3 to 7.

The program assumes that the employee has only one employer. Therefore, if the employee has more than one employer, you must calculate the maximum amount manually for Parts 3 to 7, if required, and enter this amount in the appropriate column (D3, D4, D5, D6 and/or D7) using an override.

Analysis of credit available for carryforward

During the amalgamation or the wind-up of a subsidiary, you can follow up on the unused credits from the preceding years by entering the appropriate data in the Transfers column. The balance of the amounts entered in the Transfers column is carried over to line 110.

The program automatically calculates the amount in the Applied column according to the amount of the credit claimed in the current year.

Roll forward

When rolling forward the client file, the amount entered in the Credit available for carryforward column for a given line will be carried forward to the corresponding line for the preceding year in the Opening Balance column. For example, the credit available for carryforward to a year following the 6th preceding taxation year will become the opening balance of the 7th preceding taxation year when the roll forward is done.
