Deleting a Workpaper

Deleted workpapers are sent to the recycle bin. As long as they remain in the recycle bin, deleted workpapers can be restored, and any workpaper reference links you have added in the trial balance or in journal entries are retained. However, files deleted from the recycle bin are permanently deleted. Any reference links to those workpapers are removed as well. See Using the Recycle Bin for more information.

Note: You cannot delete a workpaper that is currently in use. When a file is in use, the icon displays in the Status column on the Engagement View page. The Active User column displays the user name of the person working in the file. The Status column updates automatically as users access and close a file.

  1. Click the engagement on the Engagement List page.

Note: See Using the Engagement List Page for information about using the pagination and search features to find an engagement in the list.

  2. Locate the workpaper on the Engagement View page.

Tip: You might need to expand the node or folder that holds the item you need.

  3. Click in the Actions column for the workpaper, and then select Delete.
  4. Click Confirm.

Note: The name of the person who deleted the workpaper and the date the file was deleted are visible in the recycle bin. The name that displays is the name entered in the Report Name field in the staff member's profile in CCH iFirm user settings.
