Remove an unwanted job
- Jobs - View, Add and Edit Jobs;
- Jobs - Close Jobs
You cannot delete unwanted jobs and jobs created in error. To remove such jobs, you have to edit and then close them. The process involves changing the job type to Cancel and removing some details, which ensures that the job can easily be identified and filtered out of reports.
Create a new job type called Cancel, if it does not exist already.
- Click Jobs & Billing > Jobs.
- Click a row to open the required job.
- Click Edit Details.
- Change the Job Type to Cancel.
- Remove the Target End Date, Budget, and Resources, if applicable.
- This ensures that the unwanted job does not affect key reports.
- Opening WIP cannot be removed.
- Type some information in the Job Details box, so you know why it was removed.
- Click Save.
- Click Close Job.
- Enter an effective closing date in the past (prior to activation, if possible) so that this job is not listed in current reports.
- This is important if you have Opening WIP, as you do not want the write-off to show in current reports.
