Capital Cost Allowance
To create a new CCA class, proceed as follows:
- Access the Schedule 8 – Capital Cost Allowance (CCA) Workchart (Jump Code: 8 WORKCHART).
- Choose a class number on line 200.
- Enter all of the information required for this class in the workchart.
- To add new classes, click New on the Multiple Copy toolbar.
Note: In order to enable to import data in a client file and to be able to ensure a better tracking of a CCA class that can have various CCA rates as a result of an additional CCA deduction, we have added a letter at the end of the number of the prescribed class to differentiate them. It consists of classes 1a to 10% (4% + 6%) and 1b to 6% (4% + 2%). Note that when paper printing all of the schedules that require a CCA class number, a custom class with a letter will be displayed, while when printing the T2 - Bar codes format and the electronic transmission of the federal return, the RSI for Alberta and the corporation capital tax return of Saskatchewan, the corresponding prescribed class number will continue being used.
You can activate a view filter via the Class Filter list.
Note: If the newly created class in the workchart is not displayed in the summary (Schedule 8), make sure that the “All” filter is activated by verifying the name of the filter indicated in the Class Filter list.
To remove a class, go to Schedule 8 or the Schedule 8 Workchart, then select the class to delete by positioning the cursor in any cell for this class and clicking the Delete button. Answer “Yes” to the question to confirm removal of the class.
It is preferable to use the workchart to remove a class in order not to delete the history of certain classes accidentally.
When the filter is activated, the view is always shown by class number. If the filter is not activated, the view will follow the order in which the classes were created.
When you enter federal CCA information, it is automatically carried over to the Québec, and Alberta CCA columns in the CCA table. Override the provincial CCA information if it is different from the federal.
The federal CCA information is carried over to all provincial columns regardless of the provincial jurisdiction of the corporation. If that province is not applicable, the information will not affect the return and will not be printed.
