Fund Sub-Types Tab

Use the Fund Sub-Types tab to create optional second-level groupings under each Fund Type. Fund Sub-Types allow further classification of Funds for more detailed financial analysis and reporting. Each Sub-Type must be assigned to a Fund Type.

When to use

Use Fund Sub-Types when you need an intermediate classification between Fund Types and individual Funds, or when your reporting requires grouping funds within a shared Fund Type.

Layout & Controls

Element Description
+ Add New Inserts a blank row at the top of the grid where you can enter a new Fund Type.
Index Column A required, unique field restricted to a maximum of 50 characters. The index field cannot contain any of the following special characters: ' | : " , ( ) * ?.
Name Column A required, descriptive label (e.g., “General Fund”, “Debt Service”). Name fields are restricted to a maximum of 255 characters. The name field cannot contain any of the following special characters: * ?
Fund Type A dropdown menu listing all available Fund Types. This is a required selection. The combination of the Fund Subtype index and its parent Fund Type must be unique.
X (Delete) Removes the selected Fund Type (only enabled if no Sub-Types or Funds reference it).
Cancel / Save Discards or commits any changes made in the grid.
Warning banner "If you edit the Index or Name, any associated TB Links will be invalid.”

Adding a Fund Sub-Type

  1. Click + Add New.

  2. In the new row, enter:

    1. Index: a unique field to a maximum of 50 characters. Invalid characters for this field are the following: ' | : " , ( ) * ?. No duplicates are allowed.

    2. Name: a required, descriptive label (e.g., “General Fund”, “Debt Service”). Name fields are restricted to a maximum of 255 characters. The name field cannot contain any of the following special characters: * ?

    3. Fund Type: select the parent Fund Type from the dropdown.

  3. Click Save.

Editing a Sub-Fund Type

  1. Click the Index, Name, or Fund Type field.

  2. Make your changes.

  3. Click Save.

    Warning: Changes to Index or Name may invalidate existing TB Links that reference this Sub-Type.

Deleting a Fund Type

  1. Click the X in that row.

  2. Confirm deletion.

    Note: Sub-Types cannot be deleted if any Funds reference them.

Limits & Behavior

  • Maximum Fund Sub-Types per engagement: 1,000

  • Sub-Types must be linked to a valid Fund Type.

  • Updates here refresh dropdowns in the Funds tab.
